Daniel Barron: A numb hinge

July 1, 2008 - July 25, 2008

First Friday Reception: July 11th, 6-9pm

A numb hinge. By definition an emotionally unresponsive, indifferent device on which subsequent events depend. In a word, technology.

A numb hinge. Anagram. HUMAN BEING or BEING HUMAN.\

Daniel Barron’s series of images explores our emotional relationship with a numb hinge. “I photograph things I believe are vital to the human experience – biological or otherwise. I then combine these images to create familiar, yet altogether new entities or structures, that elicit visceral emotional responses ranging from fascination and wonder to repulsion and fear.”

Barron’s work “examines the intersection of biology and technology, questioning the definition of being human as we direct and accelerate our own evolution.” This is his second show at Pushdot.
