Joanne Fielder: The First Year

Portland photographer Joanne Fielder has combined extensive travel experience with advanced study in photographic processes to produce works that express her response to life’s subtle moments. Her work is prompted by quiet, out-of-the-way scenes, which convey glimpses of the sublime, pleasant surprises, and the unexpected layers of meaning in everyday life.

The First Year is her expression of the period following the death of her mother, a period of profound loss, change and uncertainty.
