First Friday Reception: February 1st, 6-9pm
Adoption is a complex experience that touches the lives of many. The feelings and relationships are deep and vary widely. This project captures stories that touch hearts and demonstrate how people share love that extends beyond the bond of blood or contracts; bringing awareness and understanding through stories and images from families who are living this process. This topic is particularly meaningful to 43 year old professional photographer Kimberli Ransom, who was adopted at birth, raised by a family in Eastern Oregon and had her first contact with her biological family in Lake Oswego, OR at 18.
In producing the Tangled Branches: Stories of Adoption, Ransom collaborated with Yasmin Nguyen, ERL Media, to not only capture these stories in multiple forms of media but to give these families the gift of sharing a moment together and conversations that bring their bonds closer and heal their hearts. The show will feature portrait art, printed and mounted by pushdot, and stories along with QR codes linking to video that the audience will view on their mobile devices. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFxyBSer1ZM
