“Experimenting with this new medium, I found total control over my images, never before available with the darkroom process”, Carulli confesses. His current prints have painterly qualities while maintaining the original appearance of the scenes photographed. This is accomplished with pursuing digital imaging to its fullest to create the look Carulli envisions, including printing on watercolor paper.
Photographer Nick Carulli is trained in traditional dark room photography techniques. Over the past decade, photography has been going through incredible changes with the advent of digital capture technology. At the same time, dark room materials are tougher to find. Nick’s work has changed in conjunction with this growth in photography. Although he still practices photography using traditional methods, his current work fully embraces this constantly evolving technology.
